Selective Laser Sintering

Selective laser sintering is an additive manufacturing technique that sinters powdered material (typically nylon or polyamide) by automatically aiming the laser at points in space defined by a 3D model and binding the material together to form a solid structure. It's similar to selective laser melting in that they're both instantiations of the same concept but differ in technical details. SLS (along with the other AM techniques mentioned) is a relatively new technology that has primarily been used for rapid prototyping and low-volume production of component parts.
